Why We Discount
Rhizome specializes in bringing surplus and downfall materials direct to our end purchasers in fractional truckload orders. These materials range from factory overruns, overproductions, and surplus materials(with few defects), to first and second grade downfall materials that may have varying levels of cosmetic defects or may have just missed density grading and thus cannot be certified for retail sale.
Depending on the grade, these materials are still ideal for many projects. For example, our architectural grade shingles often just fail on color consistency, but the natural color variation makes them difficult to tell from retail shingles. For our OSB, defects may include scratches to the paint, minor corner or edge damage, or minor delaminations, depending on the grade. Again, it is important to note that these products are non-certified. This is what enables us to pass through savings to our end customers.
We source our materials through direct and often exclusive relationships with mills, manufacturers, and repackaging companies that rarely offer these materials to end consumers. By bulk ordering, we can bring these materials to our end purchasers with fractional truck load deliveries.
Disclaimer: Surplus/Downfall/Factory Second materials are sold as described and do not carry the original manufacturer warranty.
